CLIFF DWELLERS
In this issue, we meet the cliff dwellers of the Southwest. These ancient Pueblo Indians built their homes in the cliffs of the canyons, where they farmed, hunted, and perfected both artwork and construction of large dwellings. Not much is known specifically about the cliff dwellers because they did not leave a written record of their time in the Southwest. But by studying their dwelling sites and learning from their descendants, archaeologists have been able to piece together a basic history of the remarkable early Puebloan culture.
